This 8-day safari with African Wildtail Adventures offers a diverse journey through Kenya’s most iconic landscapes. Begin in the wildlife-rich plains of the Masai Mara, continue to the tranquil Lake Naivasha, travel south to Amboseli National Park for incredible views of Mount Kilimanjaro, and end at the vast, red-soiled wilderness of Tsavo East National Park. This itinerary perfectly combines wildlife encounters, breathtaking scenery, and the essence of a classic Kenyan safari.
Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive through the scenic Great Rift Valley, with stops for panoramic views and photos. Arrive at your lodge or camp in the Masai Mara in time for lunch. In the afternoon, embark on your first game drive, exploring the sweeping grasslands and spotting elephants, giraffes, zebras, and possibly big cats. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight surrounded by the sounds of the wild.
Spend the day exploring the Masai Mara National Reserve, one of Africa’s finest wildlife destinations. Head out early for a morning game drive to see predators hunting, then enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush as you continue exploring the reserve. Search for the Big Five — lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, and rhino — and, if traveling between July and October, witness the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebras crossing the Mara River. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, depart the Mara and drive to Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake in the Great Rift Valley. Arrive in time for lunch and relax by the lakeshore. In the afternoon, take a boat ride to spot hippos and diverse birdlife, followed by an optional nature walk on Crescent Island, where you can stroll among giraffes and antelopes. Dinner and overnight at a lakeside lodge.
After breakfast, journey south toward Amboseli National Park, famous for its large herds of elephants and breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive. Spot elephants, lions, cheetahs, and buffalo as the sun sets behind Africa’s tallest mountain. Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.
Spend a full day exploring Amboseli’s vast plains, wetlands, and woodlands. Early morning provides the best chance to capture Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped peak before clouds roll in. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives, with a break for lunch and relaxation at your lodge. Optional visit to a Maasai village to learn about local culture and traditions. Dinner and overnight in Amboseli.
After breakfast, drive to Tsavo East National Park, one of Kenya’s largest and oldest reserves, known for its red elephants and dramatic landscapes. Arrive in time for lunch, then enjoy an afternoon game drive, looking for elephants, lions, zebras, and giraffes against the backdrop of the Yatta Plateau — one of the world’s longest lava flows. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Spend a full day exploring Tsavo East. Morning and afternoon game drives offer the chance to see large herds of elephants, buffalo, and maybe even leopards or rhinos. Visit scenic spots like Aruba Dam and the Galana River, where crocodiles and hippos gather. Enjoy a relaxed evening at your lodge with dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon, where your safari with African Wildtail Adventures concludes. Alternatively, you may choose to continue eastward to Mombasa for a beach extension on the Indian Ocean coast.
